| Welcome
to the world of Cass District 63's Foreign Language Department. We
offer a two year sequential Spanish program that will yield entry into
the second year of high school Spanish upon successful completion.
This opens the language up to a chance of taking five years at the high
school.
Our program here focuses on speaking, reading, writing and listening to the target language. Cultural background is an added dimension that goes hand in hand with learning the language itself. Games, songs and dialogues are added to listening exercises, tests, and puzzles as methods for understanding. Students at Cass are now offered an exploratory Spanish class in sixth grade. All students take this class. By seventh grade, Spanish becomes an elective and is selected by the student. Returning eighth graders again select Spanish as one of their electives. |
