In the seventh grade students study topics in the area of life science (biology).  We begin the year with a  review of scientific methods and tools.  Followed by discovering the structure and function of animal and plant cells.  We also discover how living things are put into groups. A large part of the year is spent examining the different kingdoms in the living world. 

A key part of the learning experience involves dissection of some of the simple animals we are studying.  Throughout the year we will take an in depth look at many different specimens. We will investigate members of the Segmented worm class, crayfish, insect, bony fish, and of course frogs .  This experience allows students to gain a greater understanding of the anatomy and physiology of those organisms.

Students in the 7th grade also spend time learning about 10 different systems found in the human body. The students will gain knowledge of these systems by participating in a group research project.    We will then investigate the process of human heredity.  Many hands on experiences pertaining to the topic of life science are to be completed before June!
