At Cass Junior High School, students have a wide variety of athletic opportunities available to them. We have a combination of sports that require a tryout and those that do not. Only students in grades six through eight are eligible to tryout. The following sports do have tryouts which means that a limited number of students will be selected to make the team:
- Football (Fall)
- Girls' and Boys' Volleyball (Fall-girls', Spring-boys')
- Girls' and Boys' Basketball (Winter)
- Chess (grades five through eight eligible to tryout)
- Scholastic Bowl (Winter/Spring)
- Cheerleading (Winter)
- Girls Softball (Spring)
- Girls' and Boys' Soccer (Spring)
Please understand that our coaches make every effort in selecting students to find the right balance between individual talent and team chemistry. Inevitably, not all of the students that tryout for a team will make it. Students are encouraged to continue to tryout and to look for other non-tryout teams to participate in. Those non-tryout sports are Cross Country (Fall) and Track and Field (Spring).
All of our sports require students to have a sports physical on file prior to a student trying out or participating and students need to commit to attending all practices and games throughout their respective seasons. Practices and games are held Monday through Friday immediately after school, and all games are scheduled to begin at 4:00 pm. Some sports will have their final conference tournament on a Saturday. Cass Junior High School is a member of the Southeast Dupage Elementary Athletic Conference.
Below is our Athletic Calendar. Here you will find details as to when and where our teams play. Below that is a listing of our conference schools along with a link to map to the school site.
