The Cass Junior High Learning Center provides library and informational services to students, staff, and the school community. It strives to develop the skills necessary to meet the life-long informational needs of students, while encouraging them to develop a true love of reading. Resources to achieve these goals include an organized, complete, diverse, and current collection of learning resources as well as access to the Indian Prairie Public Library and other informational sources.
The Learning Center is a busy place. Classes, small groups, and individuals utilize the library resource for research and for locating independent reading materials. The Learning Center staff collaborates with teachers to coordinate multi-disciplinary units and school-wide curriculum projects.
Our library operates with a fully automated catalog and circulation system. Students may access library materials from the computer network in the library, from classroom computers, and from home. There are approximately 11,000 holdings in the Learning Center. The collection includes fiction and non-fiction books, biographies, reference materials, periodicals, instructional videos, DVDs, and CDs.
In addition to the extensive collection of print material, our students have access to a world of information at their fingertips through Student Resource Jr., World Book Online, Encyclopedia Britannica School Edition, EBSCO Novelist K-8, NetTrekker, American History-ABC-CLIO, and AP Images.
