Hello! Welcome to the fun world of Concord's physical education department. I have been teaching for over twenty years and love it. I enjoy working with the students. As part of my teaching strategies I help them develop their physical and social skills. Having the students from kindergarten through fourth grade gives me the opportunity to watch them grow and mature. My philosophy for elementary P.E. is to expose the students to a wide variety of developmentally appropriate activities. As for physical skills, the emphasis is on individual progress, especially with a child's physical fitness. As for social skills, the emphasis is on developing listening skills, following school and gym rules, working with classmates, and developing good sportsmanship. In kindergarten, the students explore movement through the use of balls, bean bags, balloons, scooters, lummi sticks, hoops, jump ropes, a parachute, tumbling, exercises, games and dance. |

The first and second graders build on the previous year's activities. The students use the same equipment in more complex ways. New activities and games are introduced. Physical fitness becomes a part of every class. In the third and fourth grades, the emphasis is on developing correct body mechanics and learning more complex motor patterns and skills. Gymnastics, lead-up sport games, physical fitness training and testing are added to the curriculum. Throughout the five years I watch the students grow and mature as they develop physically and mentally. Let's celebrate your child's success together! |
