Mrs. Kenney's Home Page

My name is Cindy Kenney and I am one member of the Special Education Team at Concord. My title is that of a Resource Teacher/ Facilitator. I work with students who have been identified with an Individual Educational Plan (I.E. P.). My case load of students may change each year depending on the needs that each child brings. This offers me the chance to work with many different teachers in our school.

Special Education  Resource Facilitator

S-Support - Support is provided to students with extenuating  educational needs. This may take place either in my room and/or within the student's classroom.

E-Enhance - One of the goals of our program is to help a child develop skills and strategies that will be beneficial when he or she encounters a new activity. Increasing an awareness of what a student already has to offer, then building upon this knowledge.

WELCOME

R-Review- Maintenance of acquired skills are reviewed to capitalize upon students' strengths. Many students need to regularly review developed skills to keep them in their knowledge bank and know they can refer back to them to move forward with new skill acquisition.

F-Flexibility - It's the name of education.  With our inclusion program there is the flexibility to meet with a student on an one-to-one basis when a new skill is being introduced or a child needs more intense instruction. I also work with small groups of children to reinforce skills that have been presented in the classroom. Or I may also work within the grade level classroom. This type of setting permits me to interact within the general education as well.

In addition to my teaching responsibilities, Mr. Magic and I are the Student Council Moderators. Student representation from grades one through four meet as needed to plan activities that involve the whole student body and promote school spirit.
