My name is Donna Luce and I am the Technology Assistant. The 2001-2002 school year is my 4th year at Concord. Every year brings excitement and innovation that makes my job seem more like fun than work! I would like to take a few minutes to describe some of the highlights in our technology program. Our students in Kindergarten are busy at work in our mini-lab. Mrs. Simonetti and I work with small groups on special curriculum related projects. Our goal is to familiarize the children with the keyboard. Kid Pix is our favorite program! First Graders take a big step learning how to log into our network. They are very busy learning about shapes, seasons and patterns. In addition, the children are discovering how to be creative with drawing on the computer. Second grade branches out and learn more keyboarding skills. They begin to change the size and color of their fonts and insert pictures into their documents. Wiggleworks, from Scholastic, is very popular with this group. |

In our third grade, writing skills are emphasized through the use of Microsoft Word. We also use many other programs such as Print Artist, Claris Works, Power Point and Kid Pix. Cyber-hunts on the Internet are a big hit as well. Fourth Graders uses a variety of programs but with more detail. One project that is a lot of fun is making graphs in Excel. To improve keyboarding, students meet 5 times a week for 3 weeks using the Type to Learn program.
