Mrs. Murphy's Home Page

Welcome to my web page.  My name is Theresa Murphy.  I am one of the Speech-Language Pathologists at Cass School District 63 in the Concord building.  I service children from first grade through fourth grade.

Children on my caseload may need to improve in one or more of the following areas:

  • Articulation
    • Pronunciation of individual sounds in words
  • Receptive Language
    • Understanding spoken words such as following directions
  • Expressive Language
    • Using spoken and written words to convey meaning
  • Voice
    • Producing sound based on loudness, pitch and quality
  • Fluency (stuttering)
    • Producing a rhythmic flow of speech
  • Pragmatics
    • Using language socially with peers and adults including nonverbal language (facial expressions and gestures)

After a referral from a parent and/or teacher, I evaluate the student.  With the Special Education team and parent(s) I recommend an Individual Education Program if needed.

I sometimes assign homework that takes between 2-5 minutes each day.  Unlike homework from classroom teachers, most of the homework I assign should be repeated daily until the next speech session.  Practice makes perfect but PERFECT practice makes even more perfect!

If you have any questions, please email or call me.  I am eager to work with parents and teachers to ensure the improvement of students’ speech and language skills.
