Checkout Policies

We want everyone to be able to check out the materials they wish. In order to make sure all students have real choice when they visit the library, we do place some limits on checkouts. Adjustments will be made when students are working on projects and need research materials.

Books can be renewed at least once unless they are being held for another student. Students may bring the book in to renew. Students may request to have a popular book held and it will be available to them when their name comes up in the queue.

Students also have the option of placing a book in the ‘save’ box in case they have forgotten to return their checked out books. We can save these books for one week, but it is meant to be for only a day or two.

Students checkout privileges will be suspended if any items they have out is two weeks late. Late fees are .02 a day for each book. We must charge a replacement fee for lost or seriously damaged books. Late notices are sent out a weekly basis.

Checking out library books is an important responsibility for our students and we appreciate parental help showing them how to keep their books safe from pets and younger siblings. We are building lifelong library habits and feel that these guidelines are appropriate. Our school library is just one important part of a child’s reading program.
