Sixth Grade World History 2011/12
“World History is ‘OUR’ History”
Welcome to World/Ancient History! Unlike fifth grade, students in sixth grade will be traveling outside North America studying the rest of the world. Not only will students be learning about the past, they will be connecting the past with the present. It is crucial that students understand their place in the world.
The following are the units we will be covering in addition to daily geography & current events:
- The Beginnings of Human Society
- The Fertile Crescent
- Ancient Egypt & Nubia
- Ancient India
- Ancient China
- Ancient Greece
- Ancient Rome
- Byzantine & Muslim Civilizations
- Civilizations of Africa
- Civilizations of Asia
- Europe in the Middle Ages
- The Renaissance and Reformation
Parents, if you would like to share any knowledge or artifacts you may have from any of the above units, please do not hesitate to come in!
For sixth grade, textbooks will be kept in the classroom. The textbook will be available on-line; please click on the link to the right for access (username and password are both '13cass'). If you do not have Internet access, your child may checkout a textbook if he or she needs to complete a homework assignment for that night. The textbook would need to be returned the following day.
