Board Briefs - June 16, 2026

The Board Briefs are highlights from the most recent Board of Education meetings. The purpose of the Board Briefs is to provide a timely summary to keep our staff, parents and public informed of the key items that were discussed or acted upon. More detailed information is available under the Board Schedules, Agendas and Minutes section of the District’s website. Official minutes are not posted until approval at the following meeting.

District eLearning Plan Renewal
During a public hearing, Superintendent Mark Cross reviewed the District eLearning Plan. This plan has no substantive changes from when it was last renewed in 2023, aside from the addition of a more detailed schedule for Concord students and parents. While the intention is to continue to use eLearning days as sparingly as possible, the plan provides clarity for both teachers and parents to plan for when these days are necessary.

Strategic Plan Progress Review
The Board and Mr. Cross reviewed progress on the district’s Vision 2025 Strategic Plan. Adopted in 2021, the plan has driven the district and Board’s long-term work over the last five years. Mr. Cross noted significant growth on indicators 1A, 2B, and 2D, and shared how critical the work has been. He thanked the Board for supporting the change and growth through the plan to provide the best possible education to our students.

Summer Phase III Renovation Update
The summer renovation at Concord is off to a great start, with updates to flooring and lighting in 14 classrooms, as well as updates to the library and new STEM classroom, and the replacement of the retractable wall in the Cass band room and stage and replacement of the Cass parking lots. So far, the work is on schedule to be completed prior to the start of the school year. Mr. Cross reminded the Board of the fiscal year 2027 budgetary impact of the work that is getting done, which is possible with the recent progress in the district’s financial positon.
