About the Principal

  • Laura Anderson joined Cass School District 63 as the Principal of Concord Elementary School and Cass District 63 Director of Teaching and Learning beginning July 1, 2007. She has 30 years of educational experience with the past 24 of those years as an educational administrator.

    Dr. Anderson came to Cass School District 63 from Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 where she served as the Principal of River View Elementary School for four years. Prior to her experience in District 202, she served as Principal of Wilkins Elementary School in Indian Springs School District 109. She started her education career in New Lenox School District 122, where she spent 10 years in a variety of educational roles. She was a middle school Language Arts and Science Teacher, Cross Country Coach, Teacher Mentor, Assistant Principal, and Curriculum Director.

    Laura has earned her Doctorate in Education (Ed. D.) from Loyola University of Chicago in Curriculum and Instruction with dual minors in Administration and Supervision, which led to her earning a Superintendent's Endorsement Certificate. In addition, she has a Master's degree (M.A.) in Educational Administration and Supervision and a Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Education with endorsements in Language Arts, Science, and Social Science.

     

    Dr. Anderson has been awarded the Who's Who Among America's teachers two years in a row, has been named a 2006 PTO Lifetime Member, and has also earned a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence Award.
