Academic Grading System
Our academic grading system is provided to ensure a consistent scale within every subject from 1st through 8th grade. This system includes the strengths of standards-based grading and also provides clarity about how your child is performing academically.
When you look at the performance indicators below, you will see a traditional letter grade and percentage, along with a performance-based descriptor. Rather than using the letter grades D or F at this age level, we provide a more accurate description as shown below.
Eventually, grades will be provided under the PowerSchool Login, and following are the detailed descriptors. Just click on the icon for a detailed description, and contact your child's teacher or school office with any questions.

A+ (96.0% - 100%)
Exceeds Mastery
Exceeds Mastery - A+
A student who merits an A+ is one who has exceeded expectations by outperforming the standards listed.

A (90.0% - 95.99%)
Mastery
Mastery - A
A student who merits an A is one who has mastered the standards listed.

B (80.0% - 89.99%)
Approaching Mastery
Approaching Mastery - B
A student who merits a B is one who meets the standards listed but has not quite mastered them all.

C (70.0% - 79.99%)
Progressing
Progressing - C
A student who merits a C is one who is progressing toward the mastery of standards listed but not yet meeting all of the standards.

NI (50.0% - 69.99%)
Needs Improvement
Needs Improvement - NI
A student who merits an NI is one who needs to improve in order to progress toward the standards listed below.

INC (0.0% - 49.99%)
Incomplete
Incomplete - INC
A student who merits an INC is one who has not completed the work in whole or in part necessary to assess progress on the standard(s).

A student who merits an M is one who follows classroom rules including technology policies, focuses on teacher and/or task, exhibits self-control, accepts responsibility for behavior, respects others and the learning environment. Arrives to class fully prepared, locates materials readily and uses class time effectively.

A student who merits an M regularly submits quality assignments on time and make-up work in a timely manner. Participates in class discussions and activities, and when necessary, seeks out teacher independently. Takes an active role in his/her learning.
